World Porridge Eating Championship Returns to Corby Highland Gathering for Third Year

With just over one month to go until this year’s Corby Highland Gathering, organisers are looking ahead to the return of one of the event’s most popular attractions, the World Porridge Eating Championship.

Now in its third year at the Gathering, the competition has become a firm favourite with visitors, drawing competitors from across the area to test themselves against the challenge of finishing a bowl of traditional Scottish porridge in the fastest time.

The porridge for the championship will once again be provided by Hamlyns of Scotland.

Corby’s own Jason Jacob, who has won the competition every year since it was relaunched in 2024, will be aiming to defend his crown and make it a hat-trick of victories this year.

Jason said: “It was brilliant to be champion for two years in a row and I’m looking forward to taking on anyone who wants to give it a go.”

The Corby Highland Gathering takes place on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July. Heats for the World Porridge Eating Championship will take place across both days, with the grand final being held shortly before the massed bands finale.

As one of the town’s biggest annual events, the Corby Highland Gathering celebrates the area’s Scottish heritage and attracts thousands of visitors each year. Alongside pipe bands, Highland dancing and heavyweight competitions, visitors can enjoy live entertainment, family activities, food and drink, traders, and a packed programme of entertainment across the weekend.
