Working on Corby Highland Gathering 2019
So, it's been a while since I've posted on here and I apologise for that.
2018 was an amazing year for Corby Highland Gathering as we celebrated our 50th Anniversary. Thank you to everyone who attended on what was an extremely hot weekend, as well as a major sporting weekend with the FIFA World Cup final and Wimbledon final taking place.
We tried to celebrate this by making the Gathering a two day event for the first time in long while. Although we heard lots of positive comments, this was a massive learning curve for us and we have realised that if we want it to continue as a two day event, like the old days, we have lots of work to do.
We had an Open Meeting at the beginning of October so people could come along and give their feedback and suggestions and we are grateful to the people that attended. We take on board all of their comments and hope we can achieve good things in 2019.
We have also had a meeting with Corby Borough Council to discuss changing the location of Corby Highland Gathering so we can provide lots of other events and activities.
We need more space and events to entice the good people of Corby and beyond to our event. On this basis, we are all working really hard behind the scenes at the moment to try and make this happen.
It's a hard slog as the four of us on the committee volunteer our time to the event freely, as well as leading busy lives like everyone else, but we aspire to make Corby Highland Gathering an enjoyable time for everyone who visits.
I will do my utmost to keep this updated with what's happening over the coming months.
